What a year, these 12 songs each come from one of my monthly playlists I made throughout the year. Here are the playlist titles and some associated vibes and stories.
the journey continues into january – a fresh start and a fresh semester
and st valentine said i love you – settling in and watching the winter fade
with march came the epidemic – some of the highest highs and lowest lows, from online school to spring break in utah to going home two months early in the wake of a global pandemic and “unprecedented times”
social distance and a sip of champagne – going insane in the first few weeks of quarantine making bread and turning 21 at home
the start of summer doesn’t feel the same – starting the summer alone and at home instead of going abroad
june drags on – feeling stuck in the summer
counting down the days of july – trying to make the best of things and get outdoors
august brought me back – the chance to see some friends again lifted me up
september and the semblance of something sane – a new semester online
october tricked me – finding ways to make the school year feel real
but there was still something to be thankful for – impromptu road trips and pumpkin pie
and then the year was over but we continue on – the end of an online semester, and the end of the year in alaska
